Responsibility at ID Identity: what lies behind the clothing

By Vasilis

Service staff in ID Identity workwear

More and more often, a business buying uniforms for its staff is asked to show not only what its people wear but how it was made. Banks, service companies and public bodies ask in their tenders for certifications, codes of conduct and reports. ID Identity, which Endyma Ikos represents exclusively in Greece, answers with its cards on the table: it invites you to look at what lies behind the clothing. Here is what you will find.

Two points of focus: the product and the production

ID organises its responsibility around two axes. The first is the product: transparency about what a garment contains, how it was tested and how long it will last. The second is the production: responsibility for the company's impact on people and on the environment, through close, long-term partnerships with its suppliers rather than switching factories by price.

Four commitments

  • Social responsibility. ID works actively to ensure fair and ethical working conditions, in Denmark and internationally. Its employees are at the heart of its community.
  • Environment. It supports environmentally friendly technologies and materials, and works with its suppliers to keep reducing the textile industry's footprint.
  • Transparency. It is open about its efforts, because transparency creates value: for the environment, for social responsibility and for the product's lifespan.
  • Product lifespan. Its products go through thorough quality checks, so that they are made to last and handled responsibly throughout the process.

From the Code of Conduct to STeP: the journey

These commitments are not new. ID's journey reads like a diary:

  • 2009: development of its Code of Conduct begins.
  • 2013: OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, annex 4, class 2.
  • 2017: design of the PRO Wear CARE collection to the EU Ecolabel begins.
  • 2019: OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, annex 6, class 1.
  • 2020: paper hang tags removed from the garments; Better Cotton membership.
  • 2021: climate baseline established; OEKO-TEX® GMO-Free certification; TENCEL™ Lyocell products launched.
  • 2022: OEKO-TEX® Recycled certifications.
  • 2023: life cycle assessments completed.
  • 2024: OEKO-TEX® ORGANIC COTTON and OEKO-TEX® STeP certification.

STeP, for anyone meeting it for the first time, is the certification that documents responsible production conditions and traceability across the supply chain. It is the document the most demanding tenders ask for.

What has been done in practice

Behind the certifications are four initiatives worth knowing. The life cycle assessment of its T-shirts, which shows where a garment's environmental footprint is written; we sum it up in the article Use your T-shirt again and again. The Wash with care guide, with the instructions that extend a garment's life, summed up in Wash with care. The RE-CARE programme for T-shirts. And the Quality Lab, the four-step quality assurance process every product goes through before it reaches stock.

The documents you can ask for

For a tender or a contract, ID has its annual ESG report, its Code of Conduct and handbooks on the product life cycle and responsible production. Endyma Ikos provides the relevant certificates and the manufacturer's statements together with our proposal, so that your file is complete from the start.

Why we chose it for you

When Endyma Ikos chose the four brands it represents, responsibility was a criterion, not decoration. A garment made properly lasts longer, washes better and does not put you in an awkward position when someone asks where it came from. For ID's clothing, see the brand page and your industry, and ask us which models carry the certification you need.
